The
Tukwila Children's Foundation held it's first Annual Meeting
in March 2002. At this meeting, the Executive Committee
and Board of Directors were elected. Over the course of
one year, the Foundation was able to help children and
families in the city of Tukwila in the following ways:

Provided funding for Tukwila Elementary School Kindergarten
Cadre to assemble literacy kits for children and families

Provided emergency funds for Cascade View, Thorndyke
and Tukwila Elementary Schools to be used for immediate
needs of students for past two years

Provided funds for city of Tukwila "Community Chest"
program (funds to be used by police and fire) for past
two years

Provided funds to purchase books for Zero Hour Tutoring
Program at Tukwila Elementary School put on by the First
Grade Cadre

Provided funds to purchase books for the Tukwila Elementary
School Read-A-Thon program

Provided funds for the Thorndyke Elementary School Literacy
program

Provided funds for Wild & Scenic Institute to be
used for outdoor learning projects for Tukwila children

Provided back up funding for Tukwila School District
Summer School Program

books for their Literacy Night

Provided partial scholarships for ten Showalter Middle
School students to participate in the Ikawa-Tukwila
Sister City trip to Japan
