Black lives matter.

TCF stands in solidarity with the Black community and calls for systemic change and accountability for racial injustices inflicted upon George Floyd and all other victims of police brutality and racism in America.

The systemic abuse, dehumanization, and discrimination against our Black community members has gone on for far too long. It is our civil responsibility as members of this nation to look within ourselves and understand the anti-blackness that has been embedded in our society for generations. This anti-blackness has driven a wedge between our communities and our willingness to learn and understand the Black experience in America. We must work towards unveiling that prejudice within ourselves, dismantle these systems, and stand in true unity with our Black neighbors, friends, family, and communities.

We recognize that we have all benefited from the strides in civil rights led by our African American community members, who through their fight for equality, uplifted the quality of life and opportunity for other minority communities. As an organization that serves a community where people of color are the majority, we commit to educating ourselves and actively supporting the Black community in their fight for true equality because their battle is our battle, and when they win, we all win.

Our mission as an organization is to inspire and nurture a community where our children’s needs are met. Equality is a right every child is entitled to, but is not currently being met for our children of color - especially our Black children. This is a need that we have seen time and time again be dismissed. That must change. That is why TCF will place an even greater emphasis on the way we approach equity when considering causes and needs that arise within our community. Join us in solidarity and please hold us accountable to this commitment.

Below you'll find a list of resources concerning the Black Lives Matter movement. This is not an exhaustive list, but rather a  starting point meant to help guide you on your endeavor to end police brutality and racial injustices.
